"Classic submachine gun, close to mid-range. Slower rate of fire, with medium stopping power."
— In-game description

The 9mm C1 is a submachine gun featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, introduced in the Operation Black Ice expansion. It is available for use by Frost.[1]

Overview[]

The C1 submachine gun is a "Canadianized" version of the Sterling SMG. It was manufactured by Canadian Arsenals Ltd. The C1 SMG was very popular and remained in service until the mid-1980s, when it was withdrawn and placed in war reserve stock.[2]

In-game, and designated as the 9mm C1, this submachine gun has an atypically slow fire rate at 575 rounds per minute. However, it makes up for this rate of fire with the low recoil and its very high 45 damage per round. This submachine gun is useful at medium and long range thanks to its very stable recoil, but close range engagements may be difficult to achieve due to its fire rate. Its above average magazine size is also another bonus. A downside of this weapon is its inability to equip any recoil-easing attachments, such as a flash hider or a vertical grip. However, it doesn't have a very significant impact since its stock recoil is already so low.

This slow rate of fire encourages the user to be more tactical in their plan of action, forcing them to a more methodical playstyle.

Trivia[]

  • The 9mm C1 in reality fires in an open bolt configuration, meaning that one in the chamber would be impossible, unlike the in-game counterpart, which holds one in the chamber. This error is shared with other guns with an open-bolt configuration.
