The Special Forces Group (SFG) is the special forces unit in the Land Component of the Belgian Armed Forces. Tracing its history back to the 5th Special Air Service of World World II, the SFG was established from the 3rd Regiment Lanciers Parachutisten in April 2000. In February 2003, the Special Forces Group became an independent unit when the 3rd Regiment Lanciers was disbanded. In December 2011 the unit's banner, flag, insignia and traditions were officially handed over to SFG to carry on from the 5th SAS and 1 Para linage. In July 2018, the SFG and other units were reorganized to fall under the newly inaugurated Special Operations Regiment (SOR).
The organization appears in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege.
