"Sometimes the only path to justice is through a bullet… "
— Brava

Nayara "Brava" Cardoso, is an Attacking Operator featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. She was introduced in the Operation Commanding Force expansion.

Biography[]

"Prepare all you want. At the end of the day, I'm in control."
— Brava

Brava's childhood was impacted by the untimely death of her cousin, an innocent bystander in a heist gone wrong. The criminal involvement in the event motivated Cardoso to pursue a degree in law. Her inability to bring significant change within the system as a criminal prosecutor left her disillusioned and prompted her to join the Departmento de Polícia Federal (DPF).

As an Agente de Polícia Federal, Cardoso combated interstate and federal crime, eventually becoming a Federal Police Commissioner. She commanded investigations, issued warrants, and following a special recommendation from the DPF, moved to Brasilia to apply to the Comando de Operações Táticas (COT). After completing the 18-week course of air, amphibious, and riverside operations training, Cardoso joined the COT's high-risk interventions unit.

Brava's specialization in resolving civil aircraft hijackings brought her to the attention of Captain Yumiko "Hibana" Imagawa, but it's her stellar performance record that earned her a place in Viperstrike.

In early 2023, a Viperstrike team consisting of Brava, Capitão, and Hibana intercepted an aircraft owned by Deimos used to transfer stolen wealth. Brava used a Kludge drone to take control of an onboard turret, and she and Hibana took out many of the guards aboard the craft. After Hibana breached a wall, Deimos stepped out and opened the plane's cargo hatch, sacrificing his fortune and his own soldiers. However, Capitão nearly fell out of the plane as well, but was rescued by Brava. As a result, Deimos was able to escape. Despite this, Viperstrike was able to strike a dent in Deimos's finances.

Soon after, Hibana chose Brava to lead an intel-gathering operation to a compound in Ouro Preto, Brazil, leading to an argument with a recovering Jordan "Thermite" Trace, who had been wounded in a trap set by Deimos, over her hesitation to shoot the enemy during the aircraft interception. Brava argued that her leadership would save Rainbow several weeks that they did not otherwise have. Thermite eventually agreed with Hibana's decision, on the condition that Brava does not hesitate this time.

Once in Ouro Preto, Brava led a Viperstrike team consisting of herself, Marius "Jäger" Streicher, and Aria "Alibi" de Luca. There, the trio located Deimos's facility and began to take out the guards, who were already expecting their arrival. Before they could get in the building, it exploded, seemingly destroying any intel that may have been inside.

Mere seconds after the explosion, Brava spotted a shadowy figure standing in the nearby bushes and rushed off to try and engage whoever it might be. The figure called for a cease fire, claiming the intel inside Deimos's aircraft had been placed by themselves and that they were the intel Rainbow was looking for, rather than any documents that could've been inside the building itself. The mysterious figure was then taken by Brava to the medical bay where Ash, Thermite and Hibana were, introducing this new ally to her superiors.

Specialist Profile[]

The formal record indicates my reasons for recruiting Specialist Nayara "Brava" Cardoso are tied to her "stellar performance record." Allow me to be elaborate as to why Brava is a natural fit for the foremost CTU in the world, Viperstrike.

During Operation Crushed Rock, she single-handedly turned an impossible situation into a victory. The official purpose of the mission, rescuing hostages that included her cousin Specialist Vicente "Capitão" Souza, was optimistic to say the least. It was well known that the criminal organization holding him never let anyone go alive, and that if Capitão was still breathing in the first place it was because they believed he could be broken. Despite the COT's faultless preparation, the long odds saw their tactical execution fall apart. With no other recourse, Brava became judge, jury, and executioner on that mission, and was the only reason Souza made it out with his life. If any one of the dozens of criminals holding Capitão had survived, I'm sure their nightmares would be haunted by images of Brava storming their compound. Her performance on that day is what legends are made of, and legends belong in Viperstrike.

Brava knows the cost of pulling the trigger like few others do. Yet throughout it all she remains an idealist, which make missions like Operation [REDACTED] exact a hard toll on her. There is an old saying in Kyudo, "Shooting with technique improves the shooting, but shooting with spirit improves the person." Brava does all the personal and professional work required to transcend her personal preferences and be decisive in the field. The squad will benefit from someone that shoots with spirit.

It will be important to keep an eye on her relationship with Capitão. He seems to want to bond with her, but she shuts him out. When I asked about it, she told me that "personal relationships are distracting," but that hasn't stopped Brava from developing a friendship with Jäger over their shared enthusiasm for aircraft. I will let it lie so long as it doesn't bleed into our operation performance.

Kludge Drone

Brava's unique gadget is the Kludge Drone, a remote drone equipped with a electronic laser. When within range and line of sight of an electronic Defender gadget, Brava can hack the gadget, either causing it to self destruct, or turn its effects against Defenders, who would otherwise be unaffected.

The following Defender Gadgets can be hacked by Brava, converting them to Attacker Gadgets:

Additionally, the following devices will be destroyed after a short delay once hacked:

Synergies[]

  • IQ, Zero, and Twitch can use their gadgets to locate Defender gadgets for Brava to hack.

Counters[]

  • Gadgets hacked by the Kludge drone will have a light according to the looking player's team, indicating if it's friendly or the enemy team's.
  • Mozzie's Pests can take control of the Kludge Drone, allowing him to hack into Attacker gadgets and turn them against Attackers.
    • Mozzie can "re-hack" all Defender devices that were previously hacked by Brava as long as charge there are enough charges left to do so
    • Attacker gadgets that mozzie can hack:
      • Drones (including: twitch drones and the other Kludge drone)
      • Claymores
      • Zero's Argus launcher
        • Mozzie has full-control whilst other defenders have partial-control
      • Nomad's Airjab
    • Attacker gadgets that self-destruct without damaging environment:
  • Solis' Electro Scanner can locate and track the Kludge Drone.
  • Mute's Signal Jammers can shut the Kludge drone down, but they can still be hacked if in the drone's line of sight. Additionally, Brava's second Kludge drone can save the first one if it gets jammed.

Device Evaluation[]

Device: Kludge Drone
Operator: Specialist Nayara "Brava" Cardoso
Evaluation Lead: Dr. Elena "Mira" Alvarez, Director of R&D

Brava's familiarity with advanced weapons systems and other disruptive technologies made her consultation invaluable to the drone's modifications. The Kludge Drone can now disrupt hostile surveillance, with the added tactical advantage of repurposing the technology for her squad. Of course, targets are limited to the electromagnetic spectrum.

So far, the Kludge has only been able to utilize the observation capacities of defensive drones, but we're close. I'm hoping with some further experimentation and Specialist Emmanuelle "Twitch" Pichon's expertise, we'll be able to make full use of her Shock Drone's offensive laser. Twitch wasn't particularly keen on me looking for ways to counter her RSD Model 1, but it will give her the opportunity to explore geofencing.

The Kludge Drone is uniquely suited to Brava's adaptability, giving her the opportunity for intelligence initiatives and counter tactics. When confronted with a tactical adversary, Brava can use the Kludge to access electronic resources available to her and gain an advantage in any environment. The trial with Thorn's Razorbloom Shell was successful and I'm fully confident the drone is ready for field testing. I'm curious to see the Kludge in action.

Quotes[]

Brava's Quotes
  • "Sometimes the only path to justice is through a bullet."

Trivia[]

  • Vicente "Capitão" Souza is her cousin.
  • Brava wears a capybara patch as a reminder of her hometown.
  • In reality, Brazilian Federal Police (PF) does not have Commissioners, only Chiefs, and someone who starts their career as an Agent cannot progress to the position. They need to enroll in an entirely different course in order to become a Chief. It’s possible that Brava underwent this course, but by doing it, she wouldn’t be allowed to take COT training, as it is reserved only for Agents. Furthermore, like in other tactical forces in Brazil, you cannot be recommended for the course; all operatives enroll on their own, and any official recommendation by a force is a violation of norms.
  • In reality, COT’s training takes more than a year.
  • Brava is seen using an MP7 in the Operation Commanding Force comic, despite this not being a part of her loadout.
  • It's possible but difficult to pull off, to have Brava hack a breach charge. This can only be done in Terrorist Hunt or Article 5 on the Bomb mode
    • An example of this can be seen here.
    • A hacked breach charge simply self destructs.
