INDEX Analysis:
An environment-wide mutation resulting in the activation of the outer layer of photoactive cells on all Archæans. Usually only activated by presence of a Lurker. (Cross-Ref: Lurker variant)
Allows all Archean variants to appear almost completely invisible while in an unalerted state. The photoactive cells deactivate when alarmed and render the Archæans visible. (INSERT: Smoke - Better than the other way around, I suppose.) (INSERT: INDEX - Interesting. Attempting analytical simulation. Mathematical modeling in progress.)
EXTRAPOLATIONS:
Analysis of mutated photoactive cells reveal ability to reflect, refract and emit electromagnetic radiation of various wavelengths (including visible spectrum). No known earth equivalent. (INSERT: Mira - Cuttlefish are the only thing close, but there's no genetic or other similarity. Where did this come from?)
Speculating on cloak mutation: Appears to be more of a predatory adaption and not a defensive one. (INSERT: Sledge - Makes sense. They come out of cover to attack. Like an ambush predator.)
