Rainbow Six Siege - Doc's Operator Video

Gustave "Doc" Kateb is a Defending Operator featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. A Heavy Armored Operator, Doc has holstered the Stim Pistol which can be used to either heal injured allies or revive them, both from afar.

Biography

Kateb grew up in an affluent family, in Paris’ 16th arrondissement. At twenty, he abandoned a potentially prominent private medical practice in favor of a career with the French Defense Health Service. He is certified to practice in ten countries "Doctor's Without Borders"

Psychological Profile

Gustave Kateb is cut from a rare cloth: a genuine altruist, a true believer in making the world a safer place for his fellow man. A volunteer for Doctors Without Borders and medical officer for the Brigade des Forces Speciales Terre, he is a proficient field medic who carries a Stim Pistol allowing him to revive downed teammates from a distance.

Gameplay Description

Doc's gadget, the MPD-0 Stim Pistol, is a pistol that he can use to remotely heal allies or revive them if they have been downed, which he can apply to himself if in the same situation. His role as the only operator with healing capabilities makes him a pivotal support operator during a siege.

As Doc

  • The Stim Pistol functions as a healing gun, healing allies that Doc shoots at. It is also able to revive downed allies from afar.
    • Each shot heals an ally for 40 health.
    • If used to revive an ally, it will instead revive them to 75, compared to a manual revive that restores only 50 health.
      • If Doc desires, he can manually revive the fallen ally to then heal them. This is more effective in granting the ally health, returning the ally to 90 health compared to a simple Stim revive which is 75.
      • Doc is also able to revive the hostage, during the hostage PvP game mode, with his Stim Pistol.
    • When in hand, the action button (PS: R1; XBOX: RB; PC: MMB) allows Doc to use the Pistol on himself.
      • Doc can revive himself if he is downed and has a shot loaded in his Stim Pistol.
      • Pressing the action button again does not holster the Pistol back to whatever gun Doc had switched out with. Doc has to manual select the weapon he desires to switch back to.
        • If not careful, Doc can accidentally waste a shot without intending it if he makes this mistake.
    • The Pistol also has the capability to Overheal allies or himself. Overheal effectively gives the respective operator above maximum health, giving them a buffer of health that lets them take an extra bullet or two.
      • Any operator can only have up to 40 extra health from Overheal, which decays at a rate of 1 health per second.
    • During a Multiplayer match, Doc only has 3 shots per round (5 during Terrorist Hunt). Make sure to use each shot wisely.
  • Take notice that the Stim Pistol operates like a normal gun, so if the shot does not hit its target, the shot will be wasted.
    • Due to this nature, Doc should communicate with unwary teammates if he wants to heal them. Either use the mic or ping them so that they will not accidentally shoot in reflex to being shot by the Pistol.
    • If allies are not willing to cooperate with Doc (mostly by moving around too much), it is better to heal another ally or himself than taking the chance at shooting the uncooperative ally.
  • Doc functions well as both a defensive operator and indirectly an offensive operator.
    • On the defense, as apparent as it is, Doc can heal or revive allies who were respectively injured or downed.
    • On the offense, due to the Overheal mechanic, Doc can make an either ally or himself last a little longer in a firefight.
    • Healing/reviving any ally is not Doc's only job. He should choose wisely who to heal, and when to do so.
  • Taking advantage of his self-revive, Doc should stay in or close to cover. This way, if he is ever downed, he crawl behind the cover to revive himself without the fear of gunshots killing him during his revival.

As an Ally

  • If Doc is on the team, be aware of his presence, as he can be a powerful ally.
  • When defending a room, moreso the objective/s, it can be helpful if another ally stays with Doc. Not only will there be two Operators defending the room, but Doc will be able to immediately help said ally.
  • Doc works especially well with fellow GIGN defending Operator Rook, due to the latter's Armor Plates, a gadget that gives Operator more survivability, along with a indirect increase of likeliness that they will not die and instead be downed. Thus, this grants Doc more chances at reviving allies.

As an Enemy

  • Doc may be able to heal or revive allies, but he is not able to resurrect them. When fighting Doc or his allies, make sure to double-tap and make sure they are beyond dead.
    • Prioritize in killing Doc if possible to remove not only an opposing Operator, but also the defending team's source of healing.
  • Be attentive when downing a Defending Operator from afar, especially if they crawl away into cover. A Doc may be near the downed foe to revive them.
  • Blinding Doc (with either a stun grenade or Blitz's Flash Shield) is a viable tactic, as Doc will be hampered from shooting his allies with the Stim Pistol while his vision is blurred.

A handheld, trigger-operated pistol powered by a pressurized CO2 charge delivering a 1mg dose of epinephrine in a saline solution.

While careful close range medical care is obviously preferable in the case of a major combat injury, fast-paced real world operations require a more flexible approach to treating field casualties. The reviving jolt that Doc administers with expert marksmanship can often spell the difference between mission success and failure when each second is precious.
