Domingo "Ding" Chavez is a character that appears in the Rainbow. He also appears in several Tom Clancy novels, collectively dubbed the "Ryanverse".

Biography

Domingo Chavez was born in Los Angeles, California on January 12, 1968. In 1983, he joined the US Army, serving in the 7th Infantry Division from 1984 to 1987 and rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 1989, Chavez was recruited into the CIA and was tasked to undertake a secret anti-drug operation in Colombia. It was at the time that he met John Clark and started working under him. He later married Clark's daughter Patricia Clark.

In 1994 he and Clark rescued the former Japanese Prime Minister. In 1996, Chavez helped Clark implement "Plan Blue" which saw the recruitment of law enforcement officers as intelligence officers. This would lead to the formation of the multinational counter-terrorist organization Rainbow in 1999. Chavez was given the simulated rank of Major in the organization with his new role as leader of Team 2. Patricia gave birth to their son, John Conor Chavez, the same year.
