Eclipse is the third Crisis Event available for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction. The event introduces a limited-timed gamemode, a new operator, a new gadget, cosmetics, and exclusive Studies.
Announced on August 10th, 2022, it was released on August 11th, 2022 and concluded on September 1st, 2022.[1]
Overview[]
The Crisis Event takes place exclusively within the Truth or Consequences region and features two gameplay objectives: Attrition and Power Restoration. The electrical absorbing capabilities of the Elusive Neoplasm have caused a power outage across all three subzones, shrouding the environment in heavy darkness. Containment doors cannot be closed to stop enemies from advancing. Use of the REACT Light, Drone, and other recon gadgets are extremely important in order to identify enemy locations as well as the Elusive Neoplasm itself.
Attrition[]
The objective of Attrition is to locate and destroy the Elusive Neoplasm. Once it has been located, players must silently approach it with caution. The Elusive Neoplasm will send out a visible biosonar pulse that will detect any movement within it's radius. If alerted, the biosonar pulse will change from blue to red and the Elusive Neoplasm will escape the area to the next subzone. Alternatively, if enemies are alerted and howl near the Elusive Neoplasm, it will also be alerted and flee. To counteract this, players must approach the Elusive Neoplasm in-between pulses to be able to get within range. Afterwards, players must perform a Takedown on the Neoplasm which will deplete 1/3 of its health before it escapes to the next subzone. This process must be repeated for each subzone. Should the Elusive Neoplasm escape a subzone without taking damage, players will have to perform multiple takedowns in the final subzone. This means that the Elusive Neoplasm will relocate to a different part of the final subzone each time a Takedown is perform or if its alerted.
Careful consideration should be taken when attempting to approach the Elusive Neoplasm as high tier enemies will patrol the area around it and can easily be alerted. The Aura Grenade is an effective gadget that can be used to lure enemies away in order to access the Elusive Neoplasm. Echo's Yokai drone is also effective at luring enemies away from an area or killing them silently. Various types of grenades are also effective at temporarily stunning enemies which will give players a small window to successfully approach the Elusive Neoplasm.
Power Restoration[]
Regardless of whether or not the Elusive Neoplasm was damaged before fleeing, players must complete the Power Restoration objective in order to proceed to the next subzone. This is done by locating the Generator and activating it to restore power. This can be done before confronting the Elusive Neoplasm though doing to will automatically alert it and cause it to move to the next subzone. IQ can be used to locate the Generator instantly. Restoring power takes approximately two minutes and will attract enemies to the player's location. The Generator does not need to be defended, allowing players to focus on fortifying an area to be able to survive the ensuing waves of enemies. However, the Generator will randomly short-out during the restoration, forcing players to locate and active a nearby Circuit Breaker. It is imperative that the Circuit Breaker be activated as soon as possible as the Generator countdown timer will remain paused as enemies will continue spawning and converging on the player's location. The objective will have to be completed again once players from the second to third subszone.
It is advised for players to fortify their positions in closed off areas that provide plenty of cover and is relatively close to the Airlock. Crowd control Operators such as Alibi, Gridlock, Ela, Smoke, Jager, or Tachanka will be effective at repelling enemies. The Auto-Turret and Aura Grenade are also useful options when dealing with the large groups of enemies.

---|---|---|
Objective | In Eclipse, as a Squad, perform 15 Takedowns on Elusive Neoplasms | Brain Power Core Charm |
Brief | "We're lucky the Elusive Neoplasms are only showing up in TorC. We still need to study them to prevent their spread to other Hot-Zones. Use your REACT Blade to get rid of them" - Ash | |
Logbook | Crisis Log ECS: "We're dealing with the Malignant Neoplasm's evolution coupled with energy clusting attributes. It can store the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 40 households. Unbelievable... Their intriguing fractal shape is directly related to the electric energy they contain as xenon plasma. It's resistant to blades and bullets don't even leave a dent. - Ash |

Objective | In Eclipse, as a Squad, eliminate Elusive Neoplasms without weaking it 3 times. | Black Scorpion Uniform |
Brief | "Elusive Neoplasms seem capable of vanishing the same way Tormentors do. In any case, they're avoiding sources of light. Restoring electricity in Sub-Zones will corner them in the last one. - Ash | |
Logbook | Crisis Log ECS: "Elusive Neoplasms can protect themselves and travel underground to a new location through the Sprawl. The high amounts of electric energy they contain allow for these great leaps that Tormentors can't do. Avoiding the light is second nature to them as their biosonar seems to be more efficient in cooler temperatures." - Ash |

Objective | Stealth kill 100 Archaeans. | Aura Grenade REACT Tech Axolotl Charm |
Brief | "To develop new REACT Tech, we need INDEX to analyze more data about your encounters with the Archaeans. Give INDEX a hand by performing Stealth Kills and Takedowns with your REACT Blade." - Ash | |
Logbook | Crisis Log ECS: "Thanks to the data you collected, another REACT Tech can be added to our arsenal. The Aura Grenade is the perfect decoy to alert nearby Archaeans and gather them around, subjecting them to an explosion. Its primary function is projecting a hologram that looks like an Operator, but it also sends out a signal designed to trick the enemy's inner ear." - Ash |

Objective | Complete all 5 Crisis Studies. | N/A |
Brief | ||
Logbook | Crisis Log ECS: "This Crisis is different... Something localized and specific triggered the Mutation. When TorC got annihilated, that may have caused the city to become some sort of "electricty sponge." However, the evidence seems to indicate that the Parasite had already encountered this element in the past. The impressive electromagnetic storms gave it a way to isolate itself from threats and allow it to expand." - Ash |
