The FAMAS (French: Fusil d'Assaut de la Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne) is a bullpup assault rifle manufactured by Nexter Systems (formerly GIAT Industries) that chambers the 5.56x45mm NATO round. The weapon has gone through many variants since its introduction, including the original FAMAS F1 variant, and the following G1, G2, and Felin variants.

There is a variant of the FAMAS that exists in the Rainbow Six universe. This variant is the FAMAS G2.

  • The FAMAS G2 involves a changed magwell to accept 30-round STANAG magazines, as well as the regular 25-round straight F1 magazines. The additions of a larger trigger guard was also added, as well as fibreglass handguards.

The FAMAS F1 and FAMAS G2 are categorized as assault rifles in the Rainbow Six universe.

Vegas[]

The FAMAS is a weapon featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas.

Overview[]

The weapon fires very fast and often takes enemy terrorists out with only a few well placed shots to the chest area and above. As a result of the fast rate of fire, players may often find themselves reloading often with this weapon. The FAMAS also has a limited 25 round magazine, besides other rifles holding a 30 round magazine. Players have to watch for ammunition as well, since this is a weapon that Terrorists never actually use.

Siege[]

"Versatile assault rifle used by GIGN for medium to long range, with automatic and burst fire modes."
— In-game description

The F2 is an assault rifle featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It is available for use by Twitch.

Overview[]

With its extremely high fire rate of 980RPM and adequate damage, the F2 simply dominates at close to medium range encounters, but its high vertical recoil makes it somewhat difficult to use at longer ranges. Its low magazine capacity combined with its high rate of fire can also make fighting multiple opponents a challenge.

Pros[]

  • Very high rate of fire
  • High damage output

Cons[]

  • Harsh vertical recoil
  • Low magazine capacity
  • Limited long-range capabilities due to recoil and damage drop-off

Learning Area[]

In the High Value Target Situation, the player plays as a GIGN Recruit equipped with an F2 and a P9 as a sidearm. The F2 is equipped with a Red Dot Sight, a Flash Hider, and a Vertical Grip.

Trivia[]

  • In Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear, the weapon's model is that of the F1 rather than the G2.

Siege[]

  • The F2's model is that of a lightly customized FAMAS F1. The real F1 has a differently shaped charging handle, stock, carry handle, and grenade launcher sight alignment.
  • The weapon used to incorrectly feeds 30 rounds out of a 25 round magazine. This has been fixed.
    • For some reason, however, the magazine model appears to be slightly shorter than the real-life 25-round magazine.
  • The carry handle ingame is completely flat on top and has an integrated picatinny rail, presumably for ease of modularity. However, this makes the grenade sight alignment functionally useless since the rail is covering the aperture in the carry handle that the grenade launcher sight is raised through.
  • Although there is no picatinny rail on the grip, neither ingame nor in real life, one miraculously appears on the foregrip when a vertical grip is attached.
  • Unlike with other guns, when empty reloading the F2, the user does not throw away the empty magazine. The only other weapon that shares this trait is the 417.
  • At 980RPM, the F2 has the highest rate of fire of all Assault Rifles.
