+ | The '''FAMAS''' is a bullpup, selective-fire (semi-automatic, 3-round burst, and automatic on all variants), lever-delayed blowback operated assault rifle manufactured by the French firearms manufacturing company Nexter Systems (formerly GIAT Industries). The FAMAS fires the 5.56x45mm NATO round, and its rate of fire and magazine vary between variants. The FAMAS F1 fires at around 900-1000 rounds per minute from detachable 25-round box magazines, and the FAMAS G2 fires at around 1,000-1,100 rounds per minute from detachable 30-round box magazines.<ref>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAMAS</ref> |

− | The '''FAMAS''' is a French-made, Bullpup-Configurated Assault Rifle. FAMAS stands for Fusil d'Assaut de la Manufacture d'Armes de St-Etienne (Assault Rifle by St-Etienne Arms Factory - a member of the French govt. owned GIAT Industries concern). Development of this rifle began in 1967, under the leadership of Paul Tellie, a French arms designer. |

− | The first FAMAS prototype had been built in 1971. The French military began to test this rifle in 1972-73, and the rifle was successfully adopted by the French in 1978 as a standard rifle. It is still used by the French army today, and was exported in small numbers to some countries like the Senegal or United Arab Emirates.<ref>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAMAS</ref> |

The FAMAS is a bullpup, selective-fire (semi-automatic, 3-round burst, and automatic on all variants), lever-delayed blowback operated assault rifle manufactured by the French firearms manufacturing company Nexter Systems (formerly GIAT Industries). The FAMAS fires the 5.56x45mm NATO round, and its rate of fire and magazine vary between variants. The FAMAS F1 fires at around 900-1000 rounds per minute from detachable 25-round box magazines, and the FAMAS G2 fires at around 1,000-1,100 rounds per minute from detachable 30-round box magazines.[1]

Template:Weapon The FAMAS is a weapon featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas.
Story and Terrorist Hunt
The weapon fires very fast and often takes enemy terrorists out with only a few well placed shots to the chest area and above. As a result of the fast rate of fire, players may often find themselves reloading often with this weapon. The FAMAS also has a limited 25 round magazine, besides other rifles holding a 30 round magazine. Players have to watch for ammunition as well, since this is a weapon that Terrorists never actually use.
Multiplayer
The FAMAS is considered to be one of the best weapons in accuracy and rate of fire, but a drawback is its limited 25 round magazine. Most players actually prefer this assault rifle over others in its class, and this is one of the most used weapons online.

The FAMAS is one of the favorite weapons of R6V2 players due to its high accuracy and rate of fire, as well as its damage. It is the second most popular gun online. This weapon is second to the AKS-74U, because of the stats listed above.

Trivia
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear
- The game incorrectly names the weapon as the G2, since the model is that of the prototype FAMAS F1.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege
- The F2 is a fictional variant of the FAMAS. The model is that of a barely customized FAMAS F1.
- The weapon is modeled with a 25 round magazine, but incorrectly feeds 30 rounds out of it.
