The Chiappa Rhino is a revolver produced by Chiappa Firearms of Italy. It is chambered for .357 Magnum, 9mm Parabellum, .40 S&W, or 9×21mm cartridges. The Rhino's most distinctive feature is that the barrel is on a low axis compared to other revolvers. The Rhino fires from the lowermost chamber of the cylinder, rather than firing from the topmost chamber.

It is featured in several installments of the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Franchise and is designated as the Keratos .357 and Keratos .40.

Siege[]

"Designed for high damage at a short-medium range, the vertically inverted barrel alignment naturally reduces muzzle rise and recoil."
— In-game description

The Keratos .357 is a handgun featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It was introduced in the Operation Para Bellum expansion and is available for use by Maestro, Alibi, and Wamai.

Overview[]

The Keratos .357, this revolver is functionally similar to the GIGN's LFP586, with exception to its ability to equip barrel attachments. As such, like the LFP586, it can kill any Operator in a minimum of two shots, regardless of their Armor Type. This weapon also surprisingly posesses the mildest damage dropoff of all weapons, even surpassing Marksman Rifles at very long ranges. Alongside the superior damage model is the relatively low recoil kick, especially with the Muzzle Brake attached, that allows the user to take advantage of its high, long-range damage. Overall, the Keratos .357 is suited for engagements at most ranges, if only held back by its low six rounds capacity and iron sight limitations.

Similar to the D-50 and the LFP586, the Keratos .357 comes with high destruction profile, requiring only 6 shots to create a small hole in a double-layered soft wall. However, it will not destroy the wooden beams in walls, therefore not allowing Operators to pass through.

Pros[]

  • High single shot damage
  • Mild damage dropoff
  • Manageable recoil kick per shot
  • High destruction
  • Tight hipfire spread

Cons[]

  • Low magazine capacity
  • Slow reload speed

The Keratos .357 is a handgun featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction. It is available for use by Alibi.

Overview[]

The Keratos .357 performs in a similar manner as its counterpart in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It features an extremely high damage output as well as one of the mildest damage dropoffs. It also has a relatively low recoil kick. The Keratos is well suited for engagements at most ranges, if only held back by its low six rounds capacity and iron sight limitations.

Like orther revolvers, the Keratos .357 comes with high destruction profile. However, it will not destroy the wooden beams in walls, therefore not allowing Operators to pass through.

Trivia[]

  • Keratos means "Horn" in Greek, a nod to the revolver's actual name, Chiappa Rhino, as its namesake is known for their horns.
  • In reality, a revolver such as the Keratos wouldn't be able to use a suppressor effectively. When fired, expanding gas escapes the gap between the cylinder and the frame, which would create a large noise regardless of whether or not a suppressor is attached to the muzzle.
    • The Ember Rise Operator Balancing notes refer to the weapon as the "Rhino-40".
