Shuhrat "Fuze" Kessikbayev (Russian: Шухрат Кессикбаев) is an Attacking Operator featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. A Heavy Armored Operator, Fuze carries three APM-6 "Matryoshka" Cluster Charges capable of clearing rooms by deploying 5 sub-grenades through destructible structures such as walls, floors, and windows.

Biography

Kessikbayev grew up in a military family in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. After his family emigrated to Russia shortly before the collapse of the Soviet Union, Kessikbayev followed in his father's footsteps and enrolled in the military, where his facility with technology landed him a spot in the coveted weapon testing brigade at Alabino firing range near Moscow.[1]

Psychological Profile

Kessikbayev is an expert tinkerer and a master craftsman, more at ease with the workings of machines than those of people. His gruff demeanor and curt speech should not be mistaken for misanthropy. He possesses a strong moral conviction.[2]

Gameplay Description

  • Fuze is one of the most destructive Operators on the Attacking side in terms of firepower. His gadget's ability to effectively clear out rooms makes him a top priority target on the Defending side.
  • Fuze's Cluster Charge is capable of being mounted on walls and floors, and when activated, injects 5 small explosive pellets through the structure and into the adjacent room. This allows him to easily take out groups of enemies and clear out rooms.
  • The 5 grenades are deployed in a line in front of the charge, going from right to left, before detonating in the order they are deployed in.
  • Each of the pellets have an explosion radius of 4.2m. The explosion deals lethal damage to 2 and 3 armor operators at up to 1.2m, and lethal damage to 1 armor operators at up to 2m.[3]
  • The physics of individual pellets use a precomputed trajectory.[4]
  • The Cluster Charge's grenades can do damage through walls and can bounce back under barricades, so standing back is advised.
  • The Cluster Charge can be affected by Mute's Signal Disruptor, so pay attention as to where you plant it. It's good to use it in sync with your teammates, as you can detonate your cluster charge, then wait for the explosions to begin to detonate extra breach charges and clear the room while enemies attempt to flee from the Cluster Charge's grenades.
  • Fuze's Cluster Charges can pierce through Castle's Armored Panels. Also, after the grenades are released, the cluster charge leaves behind a hole in the targeted surface, through which players can look and shoot.
  • Jäger's Active Defense Systems can intercept up to two grenades per cluster charge. Fuze carries a total of three cluster charges with each holding five, so at the worst, Fuze can still get at least three cluster grenades through.

APM-6 "Matryoshka"

"Uses Cluster Charges that pierce and stick to walls, releasing sub-grenades on the opposing side"
— APM-6 "Matryoshka" Description

First developed in the Ratnik experimental weaponry brigade, the APM-6 "Matryoshka" was Kessikbayev’s attempt to create a more powerful breach charge. It proved to be an effective means of clearing a room, dealing the most damage to hostiles while keeping the Operator relatively safe. The "Matryoshka" can be anchored either vertically or horizontally. Once deployed, the piston burrows through walls or floors, dispersing live cluster grenades while spinning to deal the most damage from any directions.

The "Matryoshka" is most useful in conditions where collateral damage is not a concern. Not recommended for hostage extractions, or in areas where there is a high risk of friendly fire.

Trivia

  • Fuze was the only Spetsnaz Operator available in the closed beta.
  • Fuze is the only Spetsnaz Operator not born in Russia, but rather Uzbekistan.
  • The APM-6 "Matryoshka" is named after the Matryoshka doll, a Russian doll where a set wooden dolls of decreasing size placed one inside another. This reflects how the cluster charge contains several smaller grenades in a larger casing.
  • Fuze is the only Operator in the game who is able to equip the Russian "ACOG" PK-AS sight.
  • Fuze wears a Gorka 4 in EMR pattern and a Fort Defender 2 Low Profile body armour with an SSO/SPOSN Avizent Smersh AK over it.
  • Fuze's default helmet is the SSSh-94 Sfera-C, a steel helmet used largely by Russian MVD and OMON forces during the Chechen Wars. Available as an alternate headgear piece is the Russian Maska-1 steel helmet with no visor.
  • Fuze's Goggles and Mask aren't military items but rather they're made for Motorcycles and part of a complete helmet set called the "Shark Raw".
