The purpose of the map rework was to address issues with the map's flow, balancing, and visual thematic. Each floor of the facility now has a larger surface area, with more destructible floors and walls. New Staircases and hatches were also added to increase movement between each floor. While the map has had a dramatic change in the structure of each room, the general layout of the First and Second Floors is very similar to the original map. The Third Floor saw a big change in it becoming mostly dead space, it consists of 2 actual rooms and a large area called Attic. All of the original rooms (Workshop, Dummy Depot, Ballistic Mats and So On) were removed, the area now houses the new Tractor Storage and Ammo Storage Rooms. The Basement however, saw a big change but alot of rooms still resemble the original ones, some examples include Workshop (formerly Briefing Room) Barrel Storage (formerly Lockers) and Brewery (formerly Armoury). A Hallway was added on the western side of the basement to connect to the new west staircase. The color palette for each floor was also changed in order for rooms to stand out more and provide players an easier way to coordinate strategies with one another.<ref>https://rainbow6.ubisoft.com/siege/en-us/game-info/seasons/grimsky/index.aspx</ref>

*Attacker Spawn Points
In this Situation, the Operator in question is an [[SAS]] [[Recruit]]. The map is heavily modified to guide the player in the right direction. The player spawns in front of the left gate of the Shooting Range. All entrances to the range are fenced off, and another fence is placed to guide the player to the front entrance, in front of which a terrorist is standing. After entering, the main hallway is blocked by furniture, forcing the player to use the left two rooms to navigate. The bottom floor is also fenced off, and a wall in the further right room is reinforced to prevent players from entering there. At the top, there are two terrorists in the side rooms and three in the barricaded bedroom, the idea being that once the player kills the other two, those three will break out and rush the player. There are 11 enemies in total.

For the original version of the map, see Hereford Base (Original).

"The CTU training grounds of the first and most iconic CTU. This is where SAS agents learn their craft and as such it a patchwork of plywood targets, sandbags, barbed wire and other obstacles. One of the most archetypal examples of siege gameplay."
— Ubisoft Description

Hereford Base is a map featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. Formerly a non-flying station of the Royal Air Force from World War II to the end of the 20th century, It was redeveloped for use as a training ground for the Special Air Service.

The map was reworked in September 2018 with the release of the Operation Grim Sky expansion. This replaced the makeshift training facility with a more traditional brick structure. The original map is still playable in Situations.

Overview[]

The color palette for each floor was also changed in order for rooms to stand out more and provide players an easier way to coordinate strategies with one another.[1]
