A High-Capacity Magazine, otherwise known as an Extended Magazine, is a magazine which has a larger capacity than magazines normally used for a respective firearm. High-capacity magazines appear in a variety of forms, including longer or larger versions of standard magazines, box or drum magazines, larger internal magazines or in the case of tube-fed shotguns, larger magazine tubes.
The High-Capacity Mag is a weapon attachment in the Rainbow Six universe.
Raven Shield[]
- "This attachment replaces the standard magazine of the weapon with a larger one. The results are twofold: 1) The weapon doesn't jump as much when shooting and you don't have to reload as often: 2) The weapon's reticule recovery rate decreases due to the extra weight and you have less overall ammunition for the weapon."
— In-game Description
The High Capacity Magazine is an attachment featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield.
It is available for several primary and secondary weapons, increasing the weapon's ammo capacity for each magazine. Despite this, the attachment reduces the amount of ammunition able to be carried. Additionally, it reduces vertical weapon recoil and increases the weapon's rate of fire.

Lockdown[]
- "Increases the ammunition capacity in the selected weapon, but decreases the overall ammunition carried on the character. Decreases maneuverability and recoil."
— In-game description
The High Capacity Magazine is a weapon attachment in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown.
Overview[]
In the PC version of the game, the High Capacity Magazine is available to certain assault rifles and submachine guns, and is available on all pistols. The High Capacity Magazine increases the magazine capacity of the equipped weapon. Despite the description stating that the overall ammunition capacity is decreased if using the High Capacity Mag, this is not entirely correct, as certain weapons' overall capacity is increased depending on the weapon.

Vegas 1 & 2[]
- "High-cap mags hold more bullets than standard magazines."
— In-game description
The High-Capacity Mag is a weapon attachment featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.
It increases a weapon's magazine size by 20%. In Vegas, the High-Capacity Mag can only be equipped onto pistols though. Since pistols have unlimited reserve ammunition in the series anyway, the High-Capacity Mag attachment is really only useful if a player finds themselves running out of pistol ammunition often in a firefight, or if one is using a shield very often. High-Capacity Mag cannot be equipped onto the Raging Bull or Glock 18. In Vegas 2, almost all primary weapons except light machine guns, snipers, and shotguns can accept the High-capacity mag attachment.
