Biography
  +
Ryad Ramírez Al-Hassar was born on February 29, 1968 in Ceuta, Spain. He and his brother, Faisal Ramírez, were both thrown into the foster care system at an early age. He was nine years old during Spain’s political transition, but did not feel the full the impact of these changes until later on. His focus was somewhere else entirely, as he was shifted from one dysfunctional family to the next. A few years later, Ramírez was taken out of the foster care system by his older brother who had become old enough to become his legal guardian.
Pushed from one family to the next, Ryad emerged from the foster care system when his older brother, Faisal Ramírez, turned 18 and became his legal guardian.

  +
Tragedy struck on October 8th, 1985 when his brother was murdered in an abandoned house in El Principe Alfonso. Law Enforcement found Ramírez next to his brother's lifeless body, requiring urgent medical attention. With no witness, no murder weapon, and no clear motive, the local authorities treated Faisal’s death as an inconclusive case of street violence. After that night, Ramírez was guided through the tragedy by a sympathetic police officer who solidified his resolve to find his brother's murderer and unravel the events that lead to his death.
Blaming his shortcomings for the loss of his older brother, Ramírez decided to join the Policía Nacional. He passed the mandatory ESO (Secondary studies) and became a CNP (Cuerpo Nacional de Policía) at 19 years old. He is still investigating his brother's case and to this day, but was unable to find any solid evidence against his brother's murderer.

  +
When he turned 18, Ramírez decided to join the Policía Nacional. He excelled at the academy with the help of his mentor and passed the mandatory ESO (Secondary studies) and became a CNP (Cuerpo Nacional de Policía). Ramírez stood out as a quick learner with exceptional lateral thinking. His dodged determination and broad resourcefulness in difficult terrains resolved a number of criminal investigations.
With strong resolve and broad resourcefulness in difficult terrains, Ramírez joined the Grupo Especial de Operaciones (GEO) to track down HVTs and intercept narcotics shipments.

  +
  +
Ramírez joined the Grupo Especial de Operaciones (GEO) to further hone his skills on the field. During his time with the GEO, Ramírez was regularly tasked with tracking down HVTs and intercepting narcotics shipments. He continued to investigate his brother's death but grew guilty for leaving his job at the CNP without solving it first. This resulted in a serious case of insomnia and caused him to become ill-equipped to cope with letting a target go free. This is due to the fact that Ramírez internalized the belief that he lost everything when he failed to follow the man who killed his brother.
  +
  +
In 2017, Ramírez was transferred to Rainbow and formed deep relationships with many of his fellow Operators. He also began to work closely with Rainbow R&D Director and fellow GEO operative, Elena María "Mira" Álvarez. With the encouragement of Harry Pandey to live life for himself, Ramírez became a frequent lecturer and part-time instructor at the CNP academy.

Psychological Report
  +
"Ever since he can remember, Specialist Ryad "Jackal" Ramirez Al-Hassar has been nocturnal. Throughout his career, it's been almost a blessing given the demands of the job. Somewhere along the way, though, this has developed into insomnia. At this point, Al-Hassar can't recall when he last slept well."
  +
  +
"The murder of his brother is never far from his thoughts. The more time passes and it remains unsolved, the more his frustration grows. I detect guilt in the way he phrases certain things but when I point it out to him he disagrees. Still, he's agreed to explore it further, especially since the guilt emerged after leaving his job as a criminal investigator. It's buried deep, and I don't think it affects his day-to-day work, but neither Is it ideal."
  +
  +
"Al-Hassar has solid relationships with many of his teammates, including Specialists Mike "Thatcher" Baker, Emmanuelle "Twitch" Pichon, as well as Olivier "Lion" Flament. He's worked closely with Specialist Elena María "Mira" Álvarez. I can see in their interactions the deep respect they have for each other."
  +
  +
"Past experiences have given Al-Hassar a protective nature and a fierce sense of justice. He can be competitive to the point of pettiness, yet in all cases, he's able to check himself before endangering an operation. He described to me that before each op, he visualizes mental switches being flipped. These "switches" enable him to ratchet up his abilities and maintain focus. Nevertheless, I'd like to delve deeper into this to see if we can help him manage to balance his personal world as well. I need to ensure he isn't experiencing extreme shifts in mood outside of the workplace."
  +
  +
"I've encouraged him to live life for himself. He's taken some steps toward this by teaching at the academy. Not only will his talents prove invaluable to the young police cadets, but it forms connections that Al-Hassar didn't realize he was missing. I've also just learned that our conversation prompted Al-Hassar to volunteer with at-risk youth. Helping others stabilize their lives may help him to secure his own internal world, as well."

A Medium Armored Operator, Jackal's unique gadget is the Eyenox Model III, which can track enemy footprints and can identify its targets.

*The Eyenox is a visor. Jackal spawns with the visor up. Activating the gadget will have Jackal flip the visor down and activate its effects (and downsides, see below). With the Eyenox active, Jackal can see and scan Defender footprints.

*Defenders create footprints whenever they move standing or crouching. No footprint is made when the Defender crawls. Only Jackal can see these footprints.

  +
*With the Eyenox active, Jackal can see and scan Defender footprints to track their owner. Scanning is activated by using the interact key on a footprint.
*Footprints are color-coded depending on their recency. Trackable footprints start off red at 0 seconds, become yellow at 20, light green at 45, light blue at 65, and disappear at 90.

  +
:*Scanning takes around 3 seconds.
*By using the interact key on a footprint, Jackal can scan Defender footprints to track their owner. Scanning footprints takes around 3 seconds and Jackal can only scan footprints within 8 meters of him. This feature also requires Jackal to concentrate on a single set of footprints. If Jackal looks to another set of footprints, even if they belong to the same Defender, the scan will start over.

  +
:*Jackal can scan footprints within 8 meters of him.
:*When the scan completes, the footprint's host will be tracked, immediately creating a 3D ping at their location. The tracking lasts 20 seconds, and the position 3D ping is refreshed every 5 seconds during the tracking.

  +

*When the scan completes, the footprint's host will be tracked, immediately creating a 3D ping at their location. A new ping is created every 5 seconds for the duration of the tracking, which lasts 20 seconds, producing five pings total.
  +
:*If the target was not previously identified, they will be upon scanning, and the Attacking team will all receive the identification point bonus.

:*Jackal and his current target will see the timer for when the next ping will be and how many are leftover.

:*Jackal and his current target will see the timer for when the next ping will be and how many are leftover.
  +
:*Scanning a different set of footprints when a tracking is underway will stop the previous tracking and begin a new tracking process on the new target.
:*The 5 meter range allows Jackal to track footprints through broken flooring above or below.

  +
*The death of a Defender will result in the immediate disappearance of all footprints from that Defender, reducing clutter.

  +
*The Eyenox will produce temporary vision-disrupting static if Jackal takes damage with it active.
*There are four types of footprints, with each Operator having one of the four, allowing for potential Operator identification via their footprint type.<!--High-quality footprint images needed-->

  +
:*Shock damage from Bandit's Shock Wires or Kaid's Electroclaws will cause the entire view to be temporarily obscured in static.
  +
  +
* Mute's Signal Disruptors prevent the Eyenox from scanning footprints if Jackal is within their range. If the Eyenox is active, the Signal Disruptors will also produce vision-obscuring static that grows in intensity the closer to the Disruptor Jackal is.
  +

*The concussion effects of Echo's Yokai and Ela's Grzmot Mine will turn Jackal's Eyenox off and prevent him from using it for the effect's duration.
  +
  +
*If Jackal tracks Caveira, the Eyenox will not produce 3D pings on Caveira's location when her Silent Step is active.
  +
:* Regardless if 3D pings are created or not, Caveira will still be identified for the Attackers when Jackal begins the tracking.

*When playing Terrorist Hunt or Article 5, White Masks do not leave footprints behind, except for Bombers who leave Type D footprints. Jackal can still activate his ability and keep his visor on during the Hunt, but it is purposeless once the Bombers are eliminated.
  +
  +
Strategies
*The 8 meter scanning range allows Jackal to track footprints through broken flooring and hatches, but only from above.

Synergies
Synergies
*Due to the nature of his Eyenox being disrupted by Mute, Attackers such as Thatcher and Twitch can be helpful in removing Signal Disruptors.
+
*Due to the nature of his Eyenox being disrupted by Mute, Attackers such as Thatcher, Twitch, and IQ can be helpful in removing Signal Disruptors.
*A well-timed scan from Lion's EE-ONE-D compliments Jackal's Eyenox scans as the targeted victim will be inevitably detected from one or the other.
+
*A well-timed scan from Lion's EE-ONE-D compliments Jackal's Eyenox scans, as the targeted victim will be inevitably detected by one or the other.
  +
*Paired with Finka's Adrenal Surge, conflicting concussion and static effects are reduced for Jackal, allowing him to use his visor more freely. Also, since the Surge reduces ADS time as well, his PDW9 becomes extremely quick to aim down with.
  +
*Since Gridlock can deploy her Trax Stingers from a floor above, and she also has a shotgun secondary at her disposal, she and Jackal work well together for intimidating and trapping Defenders from multiple angles.

Counters
Counters
  +
*Caveira's Silent Step allows Caveira to reduce the amount of footsteps and negate 3D pings from Jackal's tracking, allowing her to stay hidden even if Jackal tries to locate her. However, since the Silent Step has a shorter duration than the Eyenox scans, it is sometimes impossible for a Caveira to completely avoid being pinged if she is already being scanned.
*Taking damage while the Eyenox is activated will cause a temporary static effect that obscures Jackal's view.

*Mute's Signal Disruptors will interfere heavily with the Eyenox, which also causes a heavy static effect that interferes with Jackal's vision if the gadget is activated. The Disruptor also prevents him from scanning footprints.

*The concussion effects of Echo's Yokai and Ela's Grzmot Mine will turn Jackal's Eyenox off and prevent him from using it for the concussion effect's duration.

*Caveira has special interactions with Jackal.

:*While her footsteps are normally visible by Jackal, she will not create such footprints while using her Silent Step.

:*If Jackal is able to scan any footsteps she does leave behind, Caveira is capable of preventing herself from being pinged. This is possible because when she is using Silent Step, the Eyenox will not ping her location. However, she is still tracked and will be pinged if she isn't using her Silent Step.

"Both field and controlled lab tests have provided us with enough data to assess the performance for the Eyenox Model III. As with most things, there is always some give and take but overall it's performing to acceptable standards. Of course, none of us seem quite as adept at using it as Ryad. I could see that he had a natural tracking instinct when we first worked together. The mental processes involved in developing tools to enhance that instinct so that it meshes with modern technology are a large part of why GEO and Rainbow consider him so valuable."
  +
  +
"I don't think any major modifications are required for the Eyenox. I'll know more after the regression analysis. A special thanks to Ryad who put in many late hours carrying out my test plans. He's expressed interest in participating in future R&D projects and wanted me to add him to the roster. In the meantime, six has ordered him to take some vacation for once. I told Harry not to hold his breath."

Ryad "Jackal" Ramírez Al-Hassar is an Attacking Operator featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, introduced in the Operation Velvet Shell expansion alongside Mira.[1]

Biography

Ryad Ramírez Al-Hassar was born on February 29, 1968 in Ceuta, Spain. He and his brother, Faisal Ramírez, were both thrown into the foster care system at an early age. He was nine years old during Spain’s political transition, but did not feel the full the impact of these changes until later on. His focus was somewhere else entirely, as he was shifted from one dysfunctional family to the next. A few years later, Ramírez was taken out of the foster care system by his older brother who had become old enough to become his legal guardian.

In 2017, Ramírez was transferred to Rainbow and formed deep relationships with many of his fellow Operators. He also began to work closely with Rainbow R&D Director and fellow GEO operative, Elena María "Mira" Álvarez. With the encouragement of Harry Pandey to live life for himself, Ramírez became a frequent lecturer and part-time instructor at the CNP academy.[2][3]

Psychological Profile

Suffers from chronic insomnia. Ramírez is at risk of developing acute symptoms such as muscular weariness, hallucinations and/or double vision. He must be monitored closely.[4]

Psychological Report

"Ever since he can remember, Specialist Ryad "Jackal" Ramirez Al-Hassar has been nocturnal. Throughout his career, it's been almost a blessing given the demands of the job. Somewhere along the way, though, this has developed into insomnia. At this point, Al-Hassar can't recall when he last slept well."

Dr. Harishva "Harry" Pandey, Director of Rainbow

Gameplay Description

A Medium Armored Operator, Jackal's unique gadget is the Eyenox Model III, which can track enemy footprints and can identify its targets.

 • The Eyenox is a visor. Jackal spawns with the visor up. Activating the gadget will have Jackal flip the visor down, activating its effects and downsides.
 • The Eyenox cannot be turned on or off while holding a Hostage.
 • With the Eyenox active, Jackal can see and scan Defender footprints to track their owner. Scanning is activated by using the interact key on a footprint.
 • Scanning takes around 3 seconds.
 • Jackal can scan footprints within 8 meters of him.
 • Scanning requires Jackal to concentrate on a single set of footprints. If Jackal looks to another set of footprints, even if they belong to the same Defender, the scan will cancel.
 • When the scan completes, the footprint's host will be tracked, immediately creating a 3D ping at their location. A new ping is created every 5 seconds for the duration of the tracking, which lasts 20 seconds, producing five pings total.
 • If the target was not previously identified, they will be upon scanning, and the Attacking team will all receive the identification point bonus.
 • Jackal and his current target will see the timer for when the next ping will be and how many are leftover.
 • Scanning a different set of footprints when a tracking is underway will stop the previous tracking and begin a new tracking process on the new target.
 • The Eyenox will produce temporary vision-disrupting static if Jackal takes damage with it active.
 • Shock damage from Bandit's Shock Wires or Kaid's Electroclaws will cause the entire view to be temporarily obscured in static.
 • Mute's Signal Disruptors prevent the Eyenox from scanning footprints if Jackal is within their range. If the Eyenox is active, the Signal Disruptors will also produce vision-obscuring static that grows in intensity the closer to the Disruptor Jackal is.
 • The concussion effects of Echo's Yokai and Ela's Grzmot Mine will turn Jackal's Eyenox off and prevent him from using it for the effect's duration.
 • If Jackal tracks Caveira, the Eyenox will not produce 3D pings on Caveira's location when her Silent Step is active.
 • Regardless if 3D pings are created or not, Caveira will still be identified for the Attackers when Jackal begins the tracking.

Footprint Mechanics

Footprint color

Footprint Color Graph

 • Defenders create footprints whenever they move, standing or crouching. No footprint is made when the Defender crawls. Only Jackal can see these footprints, when the Eyenox is flipped down.
 • Caveira will not create footprints while her Silent Step is active.
 • Footprints are color-coded depending on their recency, starting in red at 0 seconds, becoming yellow at 20, light green at 45, light blue at 65, and disappear at 90.
 • The death of a Defender will result in the immediate disappearance of all footprints from that Defender.
 • There are four types of footprints, with each Operator having one of the four.[5]
Footprints

Footprint chart

 • When playing Terrorist Hunt or Article 5, White Masks do not leave footprints behind, except for Bombers who leave Type D footprints. Jackal can still activate his ability and keep his visor on during the Hunt, but it is purposeless once the Bombers are eliminated.

Strategies

 • The 8 meter scanning range allows Jackal to track footprints through broken flooring and hatches, but only from above.

Synergies

 • Due to the nature of his Eyenox being disrupted by Mute, Attackers such as Thatcher, Twitch, and IQ can be helpful in removing Signal Disruptors.
 • A well-timed scan from Lion's EE-ONE-D compliments Jackal's Eyenox scans, as the targeted victim will be inevitably detected by one or the other.
 • Paired with Finka's Adrenal Surge, conflicting concussion and static effects are reduced for Jackal, allowing him to use his visor more freely. Also, since the Surge reduces ADS time as well, his PDW9 becomes extremely quick to aim down with.
 • Since Gridlock can deploy her Trax Stingers from a floor above, and she also has a shotgun secondary at her disposal, she and Jackal work well together for intimidating and trapping Defenders from multiple angles.

Counters

 • Caveira's Silent Step allows Caveira to reduce the amount of footsteps and negate 3D pings from Jackal's tracking, allowing her to stay hidden even if Jackal tries to locate her. However, since the Silent Step has a shorter duration than the Eyenox scans, it is sometimes impossible for a Caveira to completely avoid being pinged if she is already being scanned.

Eyenox Model III x 3

"Tracking eyewear that locates targets by revealing and identifying recent footsteps."
— Eyenox Model III Description

Inspired by the FBI's Quick Capture Platform, the Eyenox Model III was created to offer a mobile tracking device able to both identify and trail a person’s footprints in real-time. This forensic tool was first used to track terrorist cells back to hidden cave complex in the mountains of Afghanistan. Equipped with advanced computer vision, the Eyenox detects invisible details relating to footfall and weight distribution so that you can identify and stalk your target.[1]

Device Evaluation

Device: Eyenox Model III
Operator: Specialist Ryad "Jackal" Al-Hassar
Evaluation Lead: Dr. Elena "Mira" Álvarez

- Dr. Elena "Mira" Álvarez, Director of Research and Development
