President Jan Hasek is a character featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear.
Biography[]
Jan Hasek was elected as the first President of the Czech Republic. In the early 2000s, President Hasek adamantly pushed for the end of Czech Organized Crime. In 2001, he formed a special commission to investigate ties between Czech organized crime and weapons smuggling in the former Soviet Union. Despite his efforts, this resulted in Samed Vezirzade placing the President on his personal hit list.
Following Rainbow's successful raid on Vezirzade's Georgian dacha, Vezirzade retaliated by having his men storm the Antoninum Opera House on February 21st, 2002. President Hasek and several other prominent diplomats were attending a performance of tenor Mitchell Morrisat at the time and were taken hostage. The terrorists then made the unrealistic demand for the release of virtually every terrorist arrested over the last five years as well as the delivery of a huge cache of weapons. After a three day stand off and the execution of three hostages, Rainbow was able to infiltrate the facility and rescue President Hasek along with the remaining hostages. According to the media, President Hasek was skaken by the ordeal but was unharmed.
