The Beretta Model 12 is a 9×19mm Parabellum caliber Submachine gun designed by Beretta. Production began in 1962 and was first purchased by the Italian army that same year. It was first used in combat in 1968 during the Tet Offensive of the Vietnam War, when the Marines guarding the U.S. embassy in Saigon repelled the assault by the Viet Cong. It is also used by various South American and African countries, and made under license in Brazil by Taurus and in Indonesia by PT Pindad. The Model 12 was redesigned as the Model 12S in 1978, using a 32-round box magazine and chambered for the 9×19 mm NATO cartridge.

Siege[]

Close to mid-range 9mm submachine gun with low recoil and a medium fire rate. Favored by BOPE.
- In-game description

The M12 is a submachine gun featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, introduced in the Operation Skull Rain expansion. It is available for use by the Operator Caveira.[1]

Overview[]

One of the slowest firing full-auto weapon in the game alongside the DP27 and the ACS12, the M12 is a weak submachine gun in any scenario, and is only somewhat suitable in mid-range engagements, as its slow rate of fire and low recoil do make it easy to control. Attaching the Extended Barrel will also eliminate damage drop-off, allowing it to take down any target with 3 shots at any range. It's suited for a more methodical playstyle thanks to having the tightest hipfire accuracy out of all submachine guns.

Pros[]

  • Low recoil
  • High damage per shot

Cons[]

  • Slow rate of fire
  • Lacks grips

Trivia[]

  • The M12 in reality fires in an open bolt configuration, meaning that one in the chamber would be impossible, unlike the in-game counterpart, which holds one in the chamber. This error is shared with other guns with an open-bolt configuration.
    • Despite the reload animations correctly depicting the weapon with an open bolt by showing the operator locking the bolt to the rear, during firing, the reciprocating bolt is shown not locking back with the bolt, and instead reciprocates in a closed bolt fashion during firing.
    • The M12 in-game is fitted with a 32 or 40 round magazine, but incorrectly feeds 30 rounds from it.
