The M60 is a general-purpose machine gun manufactured by General Dynamics (formerly Saco Defense) that is chambered for the 7.62×51mm NATO round. The M60 was referred to as "The Pig" during the Vietnam War due to its massive size and weight which totals to about 24 pounds. The M60 utilized the designs of the German FG42 and MG42 for its development.

There are two variants of the M60 in the Rainbow Six universe. These variants are the M60E3 and the M60E4.

• The M60E3 is a lightweight, modernized variant of the earlier M60 variants fielded in, including the addition of an attched bipod to the receiver, a simplified gas system and a carrying handle.
• The M60E4 is a further modernization of the M60 family, featuring a different butt stock, iron sights, stock and bipod to previous variants.

The M60, M60E3 and M60E4 are categorized as light machine guns in the Rainbow Six universe.

The 7.62mm M60 LMG is a weapon featured in the Black Thorn expansion pack for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear.

The 7.62mm M60 LMG machine gun was designed in the late 1940's and its initial design strongly borrows from from WW2 German developments. The 7.62mm M60 LMG was adopted by the US military in 1950. It has a belt of 100 rounds firing 7.62x51mm rounds with a rate of fire of 550 rounds per minute.

Overview

In the PC version of the game, the M60E4 is used by the October Resistance in the missions Marseilles and NATO Summit, and by the Global Liberation Front in the missions Estate and Mercenary Base.

Vegas 1 & 2

Cut content The subject of this article, M60, has been cut from the final version of a Rainbow Six game.

The M60E3 is a weapon that was supposed to be featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. It was cut from the final versions of both games but was found among the files of the PC versions of the game.

The M60E3 is seen as the second weapon in the third column going left to right
