A hand grenade is a small, light-weight, timed explosive device. Grenades can inflict severe damage against infantry and other soft targets. Most hand grenades used are fragmentation grenades, often abbreviated to "frags", which litter an area with shrapnel, inflicting severe damage on infantry and lightly armored targets. The M67 grenade is a development of the M33 grenade, itself an improvement of the M26 series of grenades, that was designed in the late 1950s and adopted in 1968 for use by the US Army. It is also known as a "baseball" grenade due to its shape.

Siege[]

Main article: M67/Siege

"Fragmentation grenade that explodes shortly after the pin is pulled."
— In-game description

The Frag Grenade is a gadget featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It is available for Recruit, Sledge, Glaz, IQ, Blackbeard, Lion, Finka, Gridlock, Nokk, Osa, Sens and Deimos.

Within its effective range, Frag Grenades do 142 points of damage to Light Armored Operators, 120 to Medium Armored Operators, and 105 to Heavy Armored Operators. The Frag Grenade nearly guarantees killing any Operators instantly when in close proximity. An Operator wearing Rook's Armor Plates, however, will only be downed, consistent with all weapons and gadgets against it. Frag Grenades kill indiscriminately, meaning that friendly fire is an issue. A single bad rebound can severely injure or kill other Attackers, or even the Hostage. Like other throwable gadgets, getting hit directly by the Frag Grenade deals 5 points of damage.

Terrorist Hunt[]

In Terrorist Hunt, White Mask Roamers and Engineers will use frag grenades on the hard and realistic difficulties. On defense, the Roamer will use frags to flush players out, while on attack the Engineer will use frags to attempt to kill the hostage. They were removed in Operation North Star.

"Prime to detonate with precision an explosive blast when the fuse timer expires.
Throwable grenade on a 4-second fuse time, damaging a 6-meter area."

— In-game Description
