The MG36 is a light machine gun variant of the G36 rifle. The MG36 is a light machine gun manufactured by Heckler and Koch that chambers the 5.56x45mm NATO round. A very small batch were made for testing with the German military. However, tests concluded that it offered no advantage over a G36 modified for a similar role. Thus, it was rejected, with only about 300 ever produced.[1]
The MG36 is categorized as a light machine gun in the Rainbow Six universe. The MG36 appears in both Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.
Vegas[]
The MG36 is a weapon featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas. The MG36 is a unique LMG in that it features its own integral optic by default. Iron sights are not available for the weapon.
Story and Terrorist Hunt[]
If one mounts an optic on the MG36, the game rather pointlessly attaches a scope to a scope. It looks rather silly and unusual, and makes the weapons's height reach significantly higher. A player might get killed by failing to see an enemy to the right because of the height of the weapon. It is not recommended to put a (in this case, another) sight on the MG36.

The MG36 is a weapon featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. Since Vegas 1 and 2 share the same engine and models, it appears in the same configuration as its Vegas 1 counterpart.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 1 & 2
- Like the 21E, the MG36 is limited to full-auto fire, even though the MG36 has a fire selector.
- There are accessory rails on top of the scope of the weapon, and they seem to be entirely fictional as Heckler and Koch never offered carrying handles with full length rails at all for the MG36.
