MIA Rescue, also known as MIA Operator, is a mission objective featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction. It appears if a player fails to extract from a subzone.

Overview[]

Upon entering the subzone, players are tasked with locating the Archæan Tree holding the Operator captive. Once found, it is advised to clear out Sprawl and enemies enemies around the tree and fortify the area. Once the MIA Operator is interacted with, a "tug-of-war" bar will appear on the screen. An energy bar for the tree is displayed on the left and will slowly deplete as a player continues to pull. Anchor points around the tree will open up to release energy, formally called Arch Cells, that will travel toward to tree to replenish its energy.

To prevent energy from being replenished, players must destroy energy before it reaches the tree. This process can be sped up by destroying anchor points which become vulnerable to damage when they open up and glow to release energy. The Archæan Tree will sprout new root anchors if too many of them are destroyed.

Should it take too long to remove an Operator, they will be absorbed into the tree, failing the objective. Alternatively, should the tree's energy becomes too low, the removal speed will increase, allowing for a successful rescue. Once removed, players must carry the Operator to an Extraction Pod. While carrying them, Players will only have access to their sidearm and will be unable to use REACT Tech or abilities. The objective will be complete once the Operator is placed in the Extraction Pod. It is also worth noting that an MIA Operator does not have to be placed in the Extraction Pod to rescue them. As long as they are on the Extraction Pad or the teammate carrying them is on the Extraction Pad, it will count as a rescue. Once rescued, the Operator will have ~50 HP.

If MIA Rescue fails, players will regain access to that Operator at full health, but will permanently lose a large portion of that Operator's gained XP (30%). This penalty only applies to Operators that have not yet reached level 10. If less than 2 operators are operational, the operator who has been MIA for the longest time will return as if the objective was failed (Full HP, 30% XP loss.) If the objective fails to rescue an Operator that’s on Level 10, Players will have to do the objective again on the next incursion.
