For other variants of the submachine gun, see MP5, MP5K and MP5/10

The MP5SD (German: Schalldämpfer; English: Sound suppressor) is a variant of the MP5 equipped with an integral suppressor. The MP5SD is a submachine gun manufactured by Heckler and Koch that chambers the 9x19mm Parabellum round.

Although the MP5SD itself does not appear in the Rainbow Six universe, there are two variants of the MP5SD that do:

  • The MP5SD2 is a variant that has a fixed buttstock and "SEF" trigger group.
  • The MP5SD5 is a variant that has a fixed buttstock and 3-round burst trigger group.
  • The MP5SD6 is a variant that has a retractable buttstock and 3-round burst trigger group.

The MP5SD2, MP5SD5 and MP5SD6 are categorized as submachine guns in the Rainbow Six universe.

The MP5SD is a submachine gun featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It was introduced in Operation Red Crow expansion and is available for use by Echo.[1]

Overview[]

The MP5SD is, function-wise, very similar to its other MP5 counterparts. It does have the benefit of having an integral suppressor, but not suffering from the attachment's damage penalty if the target is shot within 28 meters compared to the regular MP5.

Overall, the submachine gun is suited for more close-quarters engagements, where its benefits shine. It has a better damage output compared to the MP5, and has the angled grip option available. It's recoil is manageable but slightly harder than the regular MP5 due to the lack of recoil-altering muzzle attachments. The submachine gun's integral suppressor functions like a normal suppressor.

Pros[]

  • Good rate of fire
  • Average damage per shot
  • Integral suppressor
  • Low recoil

Cons[]

  • Lacks muzzle attachments
  • Harsh damage dropoff
