The SIG P229 is a full-sized, service-type pistol made by SIG Sauer. Introduced in 1992, it is a variant of the P228 which itself is a variant of the P226. Developed specifically for the US market, the P229 features a heavier slide to tolerate more powerful rounds the P228 is incapable of. The P229 differs from the P226 in several respects, and was originally introduced to supplement and then replace the P228 by adding the .357 SIG and .40 S&W as available chamberings.

The P229 is featured in several installments of the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Franchise

Siege[]

"A compact semi-automatic pistol with a large magazine. Best used at short to medium range."
— In-game description

The P229 is a handgun featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It was introduced in the Operation Red Crow expansion pack and is available for use by both SAT Operators and the FES Operator Goyo.

Overview[]

The SIG-Sauer P229 is similar to its full-sized counterpart, the P226 Mk 25, as both share a similar damage model. This makes it a viable close ranged quarters secondary. A downside is its rather mediocre magazine capacity for its damage model, topping up at 12 bullets with an additional bullet in the chamber, along with only four full magazines to work with in PVP.
