Mexican neo-Marxist terrorist group. The Popular National Liberation Army (EPLN) is based in and around the city of Oaxaca but is believed to have smaller operations in Mexico City and Veracruz as well. Its goals are to achieve increased political power for the indigenous Indian population on Mexico's southwestern coast, as well as reducing foreign corporate influence within the country.

Although the EPLN has been clashing with Mexican security forces for years, they first gained international notice with raids on two hotels in Acapulco in 2001 that killed six tourists and injured nearly forty more.
