"7.62x51mm caliber assault rifle, adapted for close quarter operations, high damage and severe recoil."
— In-game description

The Mk17 CQB is an assault rifle featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It was introduced in the Operation Dust Line expansion pack and is available for use by Blackbeard. As a weapon exclusive to its Operator, the weapon comes with two irremovable locks that hold the Rifle-Shield in place.[1]

Overview

The Mk17 CQB, as the designation implies, is suited for close-quarters engagements, in spite of the fact that its rate of fire leaves something to be desired. The recoil of the rifle is rather high, especially with a Rifle-Shield deployed, so small bursts can counter this.

The transition from hipfire to ADS is also detrimental but can be managed to a somewhat better degree with an Angled Grip equipped.

Damage-wise, the Mk17 CQB will kill Light Armored Operators in three shots at up to 30 meters. At 31-to-34 meters, they will only be downed, and beyond that, they will take four shots to be killed outright.

For Medium Armored Operators, the three-shot kill range is up to 27 meters, the downing range is 28-to-32, while the four-shot kill range is at 33-to-34, where at that point the minimum damage will only down them, require a total of five shots at the maximum distance.

Overall, the Mk17 CQB is a decent weapon on its own but is also one that is highly versatile with its possible attachments.

Trivia

  • The rifle's designation, Mk17 CQB, likely refers to the Mk 17, an updated version of the SCAR-H, and Close Quarters Battle, an alternate term for Close Quarters Combat.
  • The default skin of the rifle has a barcode and a QR code on it. The barcode says "Numbers to Letters", while the QR code reads "The EUF knows, pack your things and run".
