Ana "Solis" Valentina Díaz is a Defending Operator featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege introduced in the Operation Solar Raid expansion.
Biography[]
- "This is for you, tía."
— Solis
Díaz grew up comfortably in an otherwise dangerous time for Colombia, where her close-knit family unit taught her the value of truth. As the eldest of four she felt a duty to protect others, which prompted her to join the National Police. Balancing her passion for computers and literature with her unflinching drive, she excelled in investigative work. After receiving a commendation for uncovering corruption among her peers, she pushed through special operations training and earned herself a spot in the AFEAU.
Díaz was surprisingly proficient in ballistics and close combat for someone with her cerebral profile, which made her a well-rounded specialist. She worked in counterintelligence with the National Intelligence Directorate and led an initiative to partner with developers of Augmented Reality technology to enhance her unit's efficiency. She simultaneously led a secret life online, monitoring systemic corruption through the dark web and ultimately discovering transactions that tied several officials to trafficking rings in South America. The crackdown that followed got her on Specialist Santiago "Flores" Lucero's radar, who recommended her to Specialist Taina "Caveira" Pereira for recruitment.
Shortly after being recruited into Ghosteyes, Diaz and the other squad members infiltrated a platform owned by NIGHTHAVEN. Osa and Kali were loading weapons and soldiers onto an chopper when Diaz, disguised as an trooper, revealed her identity and stated it was her orders to take down Kali. Kali then asked who commissioned said orders when Caveira ambushed her. Minigun mounted drones rose from beneath the platform, which Diaz took out. The other Ghosteyes members revealed themselves and pointed their weapons at Kali, forcing her to talk. Caveira then knocked Kali out, presumably apprehending Osa and the NIGHTHAVEN personnel afterwards.
Soon after the operation against NIGHTHAVEN, Diaz began training for an operation against weapons manufacturer Sunset R&D. However, poor performance caused Caveira to initially consider removing her from the operation. However, she reconsidered for this when Sam "Zero" Fisher vouched for her. After the meeting, Zero met with Diaz, telling her that she needed to find the thing that would allow her to put in her best work.
Diaz then took part in the operation alongside Caveira, Zero, Max "Mozzie" Goose, Zofia Bosak, and Erik "Maverick" Thorn. After infiltrating their offices, a failed scan caused Diaz to miss several automated turrets. Seeing this failure, Caveira brashly declared that Diaz was to be discharged from Ghosteyes. However, after the turrets targeted Caveira, Diaz was able to abuse their Bluetooth connectivity to divert their fire with her SPEC-IO helmet. At a gathering afterwards, Caveira commended Diaz on her quick action and requested her for another mission.
Psychological Report[]
As a scholar of linguistics, Specialist Ana "Solis" Díaz speaks in precise terms, leaving nothing to the imagination. As she explained, "every moment of confusion is a risk, a danger, so clarity is always essential."
She brought up an Operation in Bogotá to illustrate this, where she was assigned to the protection of a VIP. Her charge's refusal to explain who was pursuing him (and why) meant that Díaz's unit was acting with limited information, and several of them were gravely injured as a result. This reminded Díaz of why she initially wanted to leave this career path.
Díaz was shaken when she discovered her first commanding officer's involvement with a local criminal element. Her community was endangered when the police force engaged in a shootout with the criminals they were supplying, and civilians were caught in the crossfire. Among the losses was Díaz's aunt after whom she was named. The familial nickname of "Anita" never felt right to her afterwards, calling it a mark of shame, something she must make up for.
"A corrupt system is one where trust is scarce, inequality is the norm, and the people we are meant to protect become expendable." She refuses to make allowances for anyone who enables such environments. She chose to reach higher echelons to effect change not out of ambition, but because she feels like if she doesn't do it, no one will [...]
I noticed Díaz was quick to bond with Zero, and she confessed that she was already familiar with his career through her extracurricular research. She sees in him a legend from which she can learn, taking every opportunity to train with him and interrogate him over coffee. He doesn't seem to mind a student who listens, and a mentor could do Díaz some good. [...]
As confident as she is in her abilities, Díaz displayed some agitation when discussing the upcoming Operation. She puts a lot of pressure on herself and hinges her self-worth on success, so I'm not surprised that she's afraid of failure. I expect she'll feel more at ease when she realizes she's surrounded by competent specialists.

SPEC-IO Electro Sensor |
Solis' Unique Gadget is the SPEC-IO Electro Sensor, an augmented reality headset which detects and tags electronic devices. When activated, any electronic gadgets used by Attackers, including Drones and phones, can be identified and pinged. Solis can also activate a Cluster Scan, which tags devices in her sight for all her allies to see. The tag does not move with the scanned device.
- The Electro Sensor has a charge which depletes while the player is using it. Activating a Cluster Scan will deplete the full charge at once.
- The detection range for the scan is exactly 15 meters.
- The Electro Sensor only displays the type of device within a smaller field of view. Solis will only see the location of such devices.
- The Cluster Scan ability only pings a device if Solis can see what type of device it is.
- Because the Electro Sensor can only cluster scan devices that it detects the type of, the cluster scan range is the same as the detection range.
- Solis can't use her primary or secondary while using the Electro Sensor.
- However, she can still do other interactions like Reinforcing.
- Solis can detect the defuser while it is dropped or planted (but not while it is being carried).
- The SPEC-IO Sensor cannot be used during the Preparation Phase.
Synergies[]
- Solis works well with Defenders who specialise in disabling Attacker gadgets and breaching devices, such as Mute, Bandit and Kaid.
- Solis can find Attackers who are preoccupied with droning to allow roaming defenders (especially Caveira and Oryx) to flank and kill them.
- Other Defenders can throw and detonate Nitro Cells underneath Attackers who are on a destructable floor, provided that they use a device that Solis can detect (especially Breach Charges, Fuze's Cluster Charges, Jackal's Visor, and Blitz's Flash Shield).
- Solis can detect and ping Claymores or Nomad's Airjabs that are otherwise hidden outside of windows and doors, allowing allies to avoid or destroy them.
- Solis can detect oncoming drones and allow Mozzie to grab one with his Pest Launcher.
- Solis can use her Impact Grenades to destroy gadgets through walls, as she's able to use secondary gadgets while her scanner is active.
Counters[]
- IQ's Electronics Detector can detect and ping the Electro Sensor while it is active.
- Thatcher's EMP Grenades and Attacker's Impact EMP Grenades can disable the Electro Sensor.
- Attackers that don't use an electronic device might be able to rush or otherwise surprise Solis who is using the Electro Sensor, as she is temporarily unarmed while using the gadget.

Device Evaluation[]
Device: SPEC-IO Electro-Sensor
Operator: Specialist Ana "Solis" Diaz
Evaluation Lead: Specialist Santiago "Flores" Lucero
(Comment_E Álvarez: Find requested prototype in attached parcel. Glad to see the changes I was making to IQ's device won't go to waste. Contact if you need me. Mira.)
Solis had a clear idea of what she wanted, and I was happy to help. In theory, the end goal wasn't far from our old Red Mk III "Spectre", but she wanted to take it further and incorporate augmented reality technology for a more complete package.
I brought the mechanical skill, and Solis was the tech brain. She knows her way around a computer and she's worked with augmented reality before so between the two of us, completing Mira's prototype was simple enough.
The visor is both the detector and the display interface, interpreting electronic signatures in real time. Paired with the bracelet, it displays that information overlaid on the physical environment, so Solis can clearly analyze a situation. She can always communicate the intel to her team, or she can use the gloves to interact with the overlay and trigger a cluster scan.
We already know what this kind of technology can do on assault missions, but with this upgraded position we can explore the tactical possibilities when used from a reinforced position. Active drones, mobile electronics, breaching devices... the SPEC-IO Electro-Sensor is the ultimate solution for coordinated attack prevention.
