Suppressors attached to several weapons.

A suppressor, sound suppressor, or sound moderator, also legally known and refered to as a silencer, is a device attached to or part of the barrel of a firearm which reduces the amount of noise and flash generated by firing the weapon.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 1 & 2

The Silencer is a weapon attachment featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. It greatly reduces the sounded emitted from weapons, allowing players to quietly dispatch enemies without alerting others in the area.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

"Dampens a weapon's sound at the cost of weapon damage."
— In-game description

The Suppressor is a weapon attachment featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It greatly reduces the sound emitted from a weapon when fired. Due to the importance of listening to one's surroundings to determine the location of the enemy, the suppressor is extremely valuable in masking the player's location as a result. This can be useful in dispatching lone enemies in Terrorist Hunt or multiplayer as well as destroying surveillance cameras. The largest drawback of the attachment is that it will reduce a weapon's damage significantly, requiring more hits in order to obtain a kill.

Almost every in-game weapon can be equipped with Suppressor. Following weapons are incompatible with the Suppressor: M590A1, M1014, SG-CQB, M870, Super 90, SPAS-12, M249, SPAS-15, MP5SD, LFP586, D-50, ITA12L, ITA12S, SuperNova and the "Luison".
