Rainbow Six Wiki

The UMP (German: Universale Maschinenpistole; English: Universal Machine Pistol) is a submachine gun that was designed by Heckler and Koch as a lighter and cheaper successor to the MP5.

There are two variants of the UMP in the Rainbow Six universe:

  • The UMP45 is the most common version of the UMP to appear, chambered in .45 ACP.
  • The UMP9 is a version chambered for 9mm.

The UMP45 and UMP9 are categorized as submachine guns in the Rainbow Six universe.

Rogue Spear[]

Two variants of the UMP are featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear: the 0.45cal UMP SMG and 0.45cal SD UMP SMG. Both variants perform identical to one another. The stopping power of their .45cal caliber round comes at the price of an increased recoil and lover rate of fire. The SD UMP SMG is equipped with a sound suppressor. Of course, the suppression is not as complete as the integral suppressor of the 9mm MP5 SD SMG. A good choice when a balance between power and silence is required.

Raven Shield[]

The UMP is a weapon featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. The weapon can be fitted with both a reflex sight and suppressor.

Siege[]

"FBI SWAT submachine gun with high stopping power. Use burst fire in medium range for accuracy."
— In-game description

The UMP45 is a submachine gun featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It is available for use by the FBI SWAT Operators Castle and Pulse.

Overview[]

Similar to the 9mm C1, the UMP45 is a slow-firing submachine gun with a damage model that leaves something to be desired. It is, however, easy to control thanks to said fire rate and the gentle recoil. The high controllability also allows comfortable use of the Extended Barrel to mitigate damage dropoff.

Pros[]

  • Low recoil
  • Above average damage per shot
  • Versatile attachments

Cons[]

  • Slow rate of fire
  • Low overall damage
  • Steep damage dropoff
  • Low magazine capacity

— In-game description

The UMP45 is a submachine gun featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction. It is available for use by Pulse and is unlocked at Operator level 3.

Overview[]

The UMP45 performs in a similar manner to its counterpart in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It has a relatively slow rate of fire with a somewhat low damage output. This fire rate does make it's recoil easy to control and allows comfortable use of the Extended Barrel to mitigate damage dropoff.

Trivia[]

Vegas 1 & 2[]

  • The safety of the UMP45 is erroneously on despite being able to fire.
  • The UMP45 is equipped with a cosmetic foregrip by default.

Siege[]

  • In some stills, the UMP45 is equipped with a Holographic Sight or a Reflex Sight, a Suppressor and a Vertical Grip.
  • When performing an empty reload, the bolt handle magically locks back itself. A more accurate way to model the reload animation would be either having the player to do exactly the same as reloading an MP5 in the game or having the player to press the bolt release after inserting a magazine.
