H&KUSP40

The USP (German: Universelle Selbstladepistole; English: Universal Self-loading Pistol) is a semi-automatic pistol manufactured by Heckler & Koch that either chambers the 9 x 19 mm, the .40 S&W or the .45 ACP round. The USP was made as a replacement for the P7 series of handguns. P12 is the German Army designation for the USP Tactical.[1]

Although the USP itself did not appear in the Rainbow Six universe, there are variants of the weapon that have. These variants are the USP40 and the P12.

The USP is categorized as a handgun in the Rainbow Six universe. The USP40 appears in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, and the P12 only appears in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege.

Trivia

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six

  • Rainbow Six is the first game to feature the USP as a usable weapon.
  • The HK.40 USP and the HK .45 MARK23 incorrectly share the same weapon model and HUD icon.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear

  • According to the game, the suppressed variant of the weapon is fitted with a sound moderator that was made by "Knight's Armament Corps." The suppressor is incorrectly called a sound moderator.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow

  • The USP is featured with Tritium Night Sights by default in-game.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown

  • In-game, the weapon is fitted with a flash light. Sadly, the light is unusable. The weapon is also modeled with a unique olive drab slide.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

  • The P12 is using the same loadout icon as the P9 in-game. In Update 3.2 the icon was changed to the proper one depicting the P12.
  • Interestingly enough, the P12 has a different firing SFX when either playing as GSG 9 operators, or spectating/ viewing their 3rd person models (in-game). This bizarre trait is shared with the Super 90 and the D-50.
