The V308 is a fictional Battle Rifle based on the KRISS Vector submachine gun. The weapon uses the chassis and feed system of the Vector and is chambered in the 7.62x51 NATO cartridge. It utilizes the recoil mitigation system in the Vector to reduce vertical muzzle climb.

The V308 is featured in several installments of the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Franchise.

Siege[]

"This battle rifle features the same famous system for mitigating muzzle rise seen in its .45 ACP cousin. It is fed from a 50-round drum."
— In-game description

The V308 is an assault rifle featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege in the Operation Chimera expansion pack. It is available for use by the CBRN Operator Lion.[1]

Overview[]

The main advantage of the V308 is its high 50+1 capacity, which is the highest in the rifle class. The weapon possesses a decent single-shot damage of 44, capable of taking down Operators of any Armor Rating in 3 shots, however is held back by its mediocre rate of fire of 700RPM. With the proper attachments, the V308's recoil is reasonably manageable both vertically and horizontally.

Overall, the V308 is a versatile assault rifle with decent damage model and high capacity, only held back by its rate of fire. Unlike its .45 ACP cousin, the V308 cannot equip the Extended Barrel. However, it can equip the Angled Grip as well as the 2.0x and 2.5x scopes.

Pros[]

  • High magazine capacity
  • Good damage per shot
  • Versatile attachments
  • Quick reload speed

Cons[]

  • Low rate of fire
  • Early damage dropoff

Trivia[]

  • The V308's was incorrectly stated to have a fire rate of 850 RPM. This has since been fixed following Patch 3.1.1.[2][3]
  • The V308's drum magazine is based on the X-Products X-91 HK91/G3 50-round drum magazine, similar to the G8A1's said drum magazine. As for the stock, it uses the Magpul UBR Stock.
  • There is no real-life version of the KRISS Vector that is chambered in a .308 round, or any intermediate/full-powered rifle cartridge. This version of the gun simply uses the chassis and feed system of a Vector, but is chambered in a .308 round. The V308 is a completely fictional version and use of the Vector system and does not exist in real life.
