VR Training is the tutorial playlist featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction. It is required to complete in order to access the rest of the game and can be played at any time afterward.

Overview[]

VR Training is played in solo and offers a "no-risk" gameplay. Should any of their Operators be downed, they will not enter MIA status, nor will they lose any health or gain any XP. Any Operator unlocked may be chosen in VR Training.

VR Training starts with a short cutscene narrated by Thermite detailing how Incursions work, MIA Operator status, etc. Players will then find themselves on the map Liberty Island. Players are given three mission objectives: Biopsy, Nest Tracking, and MIA Rescue. Objectives are not required to complete to proceed to the next subzone or finish VR Training.

Subzone 1[]

A tip screen will inform the player of Archæan awareness around players and how they call for backup through howling. Players are then tasked with performing a Takedown on an Elite Spiker. The Elite can be found behind the counter of the Liberty Island Café. Once the player is close, a tip screen will advise them to take a stealthy approach to perform the Takedown and remain undetected. If detected, REACT Tech can be used to stun the enemy to allow for a Takedown. Afterwards a tip screen will inform player of the XP benefits of completing objectives as well as using an airlock to proceed to the next subzone.

Subzone 2[]

After reaching the second subzone, a tip screen will detail how Nests will activate and spawn enemies once alerted by Archæans. After locating three Nests in the museum, players are tasked with planting autotrackers in them while staying undetected. A tip screen will mention how Sprawl should be avoided to prevent movement from being slowed down. It will also detail how awakened Nests and killed enemies will generate Sprawl. With the objective complete, a tip screen will detail how a subzone can be extracted from at any time via the Extraction point. It will also menton how lower subzones have harder challenges but offer more XP.

Subzone 3[]

In the final subzone, a tutorial is given on how to rescue an MIA Operator from an Archæan Tree. A tip screen explains how an Operator will become MIA if they do not leave a subzone from the Extraction point or an airlock and that they will need to be rescued from that zone in a future incrursion. The MIA Operator can be found in the southern edge of the subzone. After intereacting with the Operator, a tip screen will explain how plulling them will deplete the tree's energy. Next, it will detail how Archæan Cells generated by the tree anchor points are used to replenish its energy. Destroying cells or anchor points will enable the player to free the Operator. Once free, the player must carry the Operator to the Exaction point located on the western edge of the subzone. After the Operator is placed in the Extraction Pod, VR Training will be complete once the player calls for an extraction.

Studies[]

Like regions in Incursions, VR Training features Studies. Two Study sets are available, each with three challenges. Completing them will earn players XP, two cosmetics, and a Codex entry.
